Hood River Agility Weekend

This is a photo of Decker taken sometime last year, but it seemed only fair that his photo should be included in this entry. Decker competed in Open Standard and Open Jumpers agility for the first time this weekend and he and CJ came away with two Open Standard "Qs" and two first place ribbons. He didn't suceed as well in his Jumpers runs, but still had some really nice runs that were SO close to qualifying...

Chili, Stoker and I just couldn't seem to get things in synch and ended up with just one 3rd place Novice Standard Q for Stoker and one 1st place Open Jumpers Q for Chili all weekend. Chili did get her weave poles on most of her classes, which is really an accomplishment for us as that has been her most challenging obstacle. She stayed really happy and enthusiastic for the entire three day weekend too, perhaps celebrating a little TOO much with a bit of a "touch and go/trampoline" effect on her pause table the last two days. She knocked quite a few bars during the weekend, perhaps due to her being a bit overweight despite our best dieting efforts or because she is running faster than ever and not judging her take-off points as well. We've gotta work on our contacts too. I realize I am always running them the exact same way in class and if I do it at all differently in a trial, both girls spring off. Always something to train!

The weather was great all weekend and we were able to stay at the fairgrounds in Hood River in CJ's new RV. How relaxing to wake up, take the dogs on a nice potty walk on the grounds and then just head on over to the ring to walk the course.
